Like my brother, I attended South Christian and Calvin College and similarly felt a calling to do something different than my original plan.  While in class at Calvin I found myself looking out the window longing to be back outside mowing lawns like Brad and I did in high school rather than staring at a computer screen all day.  I got a job working on the grounds maintenance crew at Calvin and felt like that was the direction I needed to go.  During my time on the grounds crew I was encouraged to try working on a Golf Course.  I took that advice, loved it, and a few years later I graduated from Michigan State’s Golf Course Turf Management program and found a job in California closer to my wife’s family.  After 26 years of maintenance, construction management, and administration of multiple golf courses my wife and I felt it was time for a change of jobs and a move back to Michigan.  The hours Brad and I spent in his old red pickup mowing lawns taught us we had a lot in common and that we liked working together. This new opportunity is the fulfillment of many “some day” conversations between Brad and I over the years and for me a wonderful homecoming.  I love Michigan and look forward to serving our neighbors!
